Stock Grading on VinylWithin our vinyl databases you will find a grade. The first grade stands for vinyl and the second stands for the quality of the sleeve. For example Ex/VG means the vinyl is in excellent condition and the sleeve in very good condition. An explanation of the grading system used is set out below and is the generally accepted Industry standard.
M = Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration
in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster
are in perfect condition. Unplayed and sealed records are referred to as Mint.
Ex = Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening
in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have minimal wear and/or creasing.
VG = Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major
deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.
G = Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated,
perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding,
scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
Fair, Poor or Bad: Kellys Records will not supply any item of this quality unless the record
is extremely rare and has been specifically requested.
